Halloween and Aki-con 09

Wed Nov 18, 2009, 10:30 PM
*sigh* I'm trying to get my life in order, so I'm combining these two events.

Anyway, so , Halloween. I got Traffic Cone done *does a dance* and just in time for our curch's harvest festival, which I volunteer at every year. Since the character is a tow truck driver, I hung out in the parking lot with the trunk-or-treat peeps near my dad's tow truck.

Little kids either loved me or were terrified. Fortunately, there was more giggling than screaming.

One of the funniest things was Red from the local Red Robin showing up. I ran over, and we both threw our hands in the air in surprise and had this whole silent mascot conversation. His handler was in tears, she was laughing so hard. Then we had our picture taken together and he gave me rabbit ears. Anyway, a fun night. Onto the more improtant event: Aki-con.

I got to go to all three days of the con this year, but missed the first Half of Saturday because I had to take the SAT. *grumble*

I was a little surprised that Traffic Cone was so popular, but I hadn't been there five minutes before people were yelling "Traffic Safety Fox!" and clamoring to get my picture. It was pretty awesome.

Friday, I just kinda hung out. Saturday, I got to the con just in time to change into my Charden costume for our Black Cat group. I have decided that I never want 38 inch hair. That was annoying.

We entered the skit competition, video is up on Youtube. Didn't win cause our costumes weren't the best, but we got a standing ovation form the crowd, so I guess that's good.

Sunday, as soon as I arrived, I headed straight for the lolita Fashion show panel. Only six loli's showed up, but they were halarious on stage. I have some awesome pictures of them onstage that I will be uploading later. I also got some good ideas for a future Lolita fursuit project.

I had enough time to wander the dealer's den with a freind of mine (who was running around being a wildman with my camera) Bought a sweet clock and drooled over Steampunk and Lolita stuffs, but didn't buy anything else. Then I caught closing ceremonies and went home.

Put all together, this was actually the worst con I've been to. Not that I didn't have fun, but lotsa little thing's combined kinda made parts a downer. my biggest complaint is the badges, which were flimsy little things that you could hardly read. I usually give my name to people by having them look at my badge, but no body could read it because it was so small.

I was also kinda dissapointed by the lack of dances, but that's more of a furry con thing. Anime cons like their concerts better. Met a couple furs, got a cool t-shirt, and a gay guy stole my hat. (I'm still working on getting it back)

Onto the next con, Sakuracon '10.

Totalled My Car- RIP Turbo

Sat Oct 31, 2009, 9:31 PM
Yeah, another "posting it way after the fact" thing.

Anyway, monday I wrecked my car on my way to school. I'm fine, but my car will never drive again.

I had an '88 Chrysler LeBaron Convertible,a nd it was a sweet ride. Never mind that all the paint was peeling off and the interior was the ugliest shade of maroon ever, I loved it. Even named it; Turbo.

Monday it was raining and nasty, and I have to take the highway to get to school. Every time a Semi went by, it took a minute or two for my wipers to clear the windsheild. Well, it only took a minute for traffic to stop in front of me without me noticing.

I don't know how fast I was going because the speedometer wasn't working that day, but I figure I was going at least fourty, even with the brakes full on.

To add insult to injury, the vehicle I rear-ended was a van for the local Christain School, full of kids. Nobody was hurt there either, and the van just needs new bumpers.

So now I have a gaint bruise on my knee, a colorful one across my left clavicle, and no way to get around. And I'm broke. I hate the school bus.

*sigh* I'll miss my car.

Con report- Rainfurrest 09

Wed Oct 28, 2009, 7:58 PM
Why do I wait to post things until about a month after they happen?

Anyway...

I didn't get my Saisha suit done as I had expected, but was able to wear Rowdy at the con. I (barely) finished the silver fox, and somehow managed to pull off a (rather creepy) cougar partial for a freind in one night. I was literally sewing the neck flaps on while we were driving to the con.

Of course, my freind wanted a black wig on his cougar, and the one I bought was a cheapo rocker wig from Value Village. It basically made the cougar look like a fuzzy Micheal Jackson. Which is okay because 1. the theme was zombies/undead and 2. People thought it was funny.

Anyway, I spent quite a bit of time at the con sitting in the fursuit lounge, talking to people. It was actually really fun meeting all the new furs (and recognizing a couple from Sakuracon) The head-drying rack in the lounge was both awesome and halarious. It looked so funny when it was full of heads.

So, some cool stuff that happened-

Being in the fursuit parade. I was wearing a harness (as in a real dog harness stolen from my malamute) and my freind the cougar ended up hanging on to the traces because he could hardly see in his suit. The number of people who said Mush!...

The pool toy war. Someone brought some inflatibles for the pool. They included two orcas, a shark, a turtle, and an alligator. Within five minutes, we were chucking them at eachother and basically playing pool toy volleyball.

Smacking my freind Mike. We both lay down on the floor in suit. Mike was on his back, I was on my side and tried to roll over. My hand came up, then down right on his balls. We then had to retreat to the lounge so he could recover.

The Variety show. The Canadians were aresome.

The dance competition. Because of Bluff, we will never be able to hear the song Superfreak without busting up laughing.

Playing with the parachute on Sunday. Several furs, (Matrices, Baltowoof, and a couple others) had brought a parachute (like the ones you used to play with in gym) and we messed around with it. Someone tossed ball on the shute, and hey, more fun.

Some not so cool stuff-

Sewing for two hours in the hotel room. After the first night, I had to perform repairs on all three of our suits.

Safety pins. We actully ran out and had to get more. Until I have time for repairs, my suit is being held together by them.

The bellhop cart of doom. Sign out time for the rooms was at 10 am, and we weren't leaving until 2pm. So we (barely) managed to fit all of our stuff onto 1 bellhop cart and wheeled it into the fursuit lounge. it was so embarassing.

All in all, an awesome first fur con.

Fair Report: Evergreen State Fair

Sun Sep 20, 2009, 6:17 PM
Man, what can I say? Obviously, I can't go over the whole two weeks, but what a time. The barn was packed with people, like always, and all my freinds were there.

I didn't win so much this year in dogs. Did pretty badly in Obediance and Showmanship. *sigh* I finally manged to make it onto the state judging team, but the day they're going is the same as the Saturday of Rianfurrest, and I can't miss that.

Good news, I managed to get 2nd in Advanced Blindfold Id and got a giant trophy. Our Dog Bowl team also took champion.

Of course, no one in the dog barn could managed to leave my hat alone. We were playing dog UNO (best game ever) when they stole my hat and threw it over the dividing wall. Took me three hours to get it back. THey kept hiding it.

Oh, a funny thing, a freind of mine, Shawn, has an AKC Cocker Spaniel that he tossed into the wood-chip filled potty pen. The dog was more chip than fur when it came out.

Oooh, I also got a pair of Malamute socks. This sock-guy had everything. Though, I am dissapointed that the Mals ont eh socks had blue eyes. That will be fixed.

The real fun of the fair was wearing my Rowdy Mal fursuit in the fashion show. That was way too much fun. The judges just couldn't stop staring at the way the jaw moved when I talked. XD After the show, I satyed in suit. Just pinned a ribbon back on the suit, stepped back into my cabinet, and scared the unsuspecting public. And some 4-H moms. *hee hee*

Oh, I also managed to get onto the front page of the main newspaper in our area. Pic of me and my dog. A reporter interveiwed me about 4-H, so there you go.

Way more stuff happened, but like I said. Can't go over the whole two weeks. So for now this is Wingwolf, signing off.

To the Evergreen State Fair!

Thu Aug 27, 2009, 5:02 PM
Time for the big one, the Evergreen State fair. I'm about to leave for two weeks, no internet acess (the sheer amount of messages I'm going to have when I get back...)

Lemme say, setup for the fair this last weekend was great. The art barns do interveiw judging, when you sit in front of the judge, pull out what you're entering, and tell them about it.

I got the best judges. In the creative arts, I entered (amoung other things) a pencil drawing of KITT from Knight Rider. Well, my judge turned out to be a Knight Rider fan.

In the sewing barn, when I hauled my Rowdy fursuit on the table, I noticed the judge was wearing a NorWesCon vest. Turns out she attened Sci-Fi conventions all the time, and knew exactly what a fursuit was. It was great.

Of course, putting Rowdy in a display cabinet was a whole nother matter. I wanted a full-body manniquin, but all the ones they had were either legs, or an upper torso. So I ductaped two together, and then taped a styrofoam head on top of it all. Perfect.

When I get back, I'll have some pics of Rowdy's full suit, along with the ribbons I won with her at the fair. later All!
